It looks as the venerable M1911 might be making a comeback into the military. It appears that the U.S. Marine Corps has issued a request to procure nearly 4000 M45 pistols. For clarification, the M45 was previously know as the MEU(SOC) pistol.

 A few interesting points from the procurement document

• Pistol must have an accessory rail meeting MIL-STD-1913 specifications


• Must perform a five shot group to an average of no more than 4 inches by 4 inches at 25 yards


• It has a consistent trigger pull of 5 (+/- 1) lbs.


• Reliability of an average minimum of 300 rounds between stoppages and 5,000 rounds between parts failures

I'll be very curious to see how this goes after the debacle that occured in the 1984/1985 US Armed Forces Pistol testing when Beretta won the contract with the M9.

I'm a huge 1911 fan and would love to see it make a comeback into the mainstream military (some select groups within various military units are still issued a 1911)

The US Marines are Giving the Colt 1911 Another Look

Handbag gun holsters are a big purchase for many ladies. However, it's important to find the "best" concealed carry bag for their requirements, and not every lady will have the exact same needs.

 For example, quite a few women will want to travel light so they will be using a very small handgun, probably the equivalent of a pocket gun so they will need a small to mid-sized bag that looks like a nice purse. Other ladies may carry a larger handgun, but be far more worried with the looks of the bag versus the function. Concealed Carry Purses

For the folks that are using a large caliber revolver for hunting, it can be difficult to find a gun holster. This is especially true if the the pistol is scoped. Depending on the size of the revolver (barrel length), your type of holster choices are fairly limited.

 You can either look at a belt holster or a chest type holster like the one shown above. Most longer barreled revolvers will require a chest holster of some type due to the bulkiness of the longer barrel. They are a number of holster manufacturers on the market that produce chest holsters, but the most popular seems to be the Galco Alaskan Chest holster.

 Finding a holster to fit one of these scoped revolvers is liking trying to find a holster for a discontinued handgun. You may even have to look at using a custom holster maker.
